Matthew Post and John Caporaletti just won the Toyota TeenDrive365 Video Challenge, earning themselves $15,000 and a chance to film their PSA with the Discovery network.
The TeenDrive365 Video Challenge is now in its fifth year, and is designed to get teens to inspire their peers to adopt safer driving habits... namely, keeping their eyes on the road, and off their cell phones.
Post and Caporaletti's winning video puts a sharp new perspective on the dangers of driving by likening cars to whales, which weigh the same as a car.
"If you were doing 40mph down the street in a giant beluga whale," they say, "you probably would not take your hands off the wheel, you probably wouldn't be reaching for your cell phone, and you probably would not be cranking music as loud as possible, because there could be a beluga whale coming the other way."
So, even though you've probably never seen a whale in Joplin, Fayetteville, Rogers, or Springfield, you drive one every day. If you are shopping for a new car, truck, or SUV from Frank Fletcher Toyota, remember to drive safe, and watch out for whales.
