What makes an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+; a vehicle must meet safety test standards created by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. There are three criteria to get the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ award a vehicle must receive good ratings in all five crashworthiness tests, advanced or superior rating for front crashing prevention, and acceptable or good headlight rating.

Toyota joins the celebration of the Youth of the Year by giving away a new Toyota vehicle the winner of the award. Toyota does this because of the values that comprise the winner of the Youth of the Year which align with Toyota's commitment to excellence.

Earlier this year, Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com announced their annual list of "10 Coolest Cars Under $18,000" ? and the versatile 2017 Corolla iM received a spot on the list. The list is among KBB.com's oldest, having been published every year since 2003.

When it comes to reliability, there are a few indicators that will bring you back to Toyota, and thanks to this massive study reported by Your Mechanic, the proof is in the data. Based on estimates of total maintenance over 10 years, Toyota costs the least to maintain.¹

The study also broke it down to individual models-- which cars cost the most to maintain, and which cost the least. Toyota didn't make the list of highest maintenance cost, but it did have five cars in the top 10 lowest-cost-to-maintain cars. Here's who made the list...
